All Hallows by the Tower church is situated on Byward Street EC3, in the south of the City of London, close to the River Thames. The Tower of London is just 50m east of All Hallows, on Tower Hill EC3. All Hallows by the Tower is thought to be the oldest church in London and an arch from a Saxon church built on this site in 675AD is still on show today. A Roman pavement was discovered on the site of All Hallows by the Tower in 1926, which can be seen today, in addition to many Saxon relics. All Hallows by the Tower provides free guided tours on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays in summer months. All Hallows by the Tower, which is open 7 days a week and still a place of worship today, hosts a variety of concerts and exhibitions throughout the year.

All Hallows by the Tower survived the Great Fire of London and Samuel Pepys used the tower here to view and document the fire. All Hallows by the Tower was badly damaged in the Second World War and was carefully rebuilt between 1948-1957 by Lord Mottistone and Paul Pager. John Quincy Adams, sixth president of the United States, was married in this Grade 1 listed building in 1797.
