Carnaby Street is a partially pedestrianised shopping strip in Soho, close to Oxford Street and Regent Street, is bordered by Beak Street and Great Marlborough Street and.....it's fabulous. There is so much to see in Carnaby Street and you can most definitely kill many hours wandering and browsing in its very unique stores.
Although a little more common now, you must remember that Carnaby Street was once the cool of cool in the ¨Swinging Sixties¨ with its independent music stores and clothing boutiques.
As you walk under the arched Carnaby Street sign, posted at the Great Marlborough Street end, you may just feel a little tingle of excitement. It sounds silly but it's true! For whatever you don't find scouring the shops on Oxford and Regent Streets you will most definitely find in Carnaby Street and the other small streets and lanes it includes in its hood - including the colourful characters it attracts on a daily basis. Home to over 30 flagship stores, concept stores for Levi´s and Diesel and exclusively housing the only stores in the country for Ben Sherman, Puma and Lees & Vans, Carnaby is a shopper's heaven.
Ben Sherman is not only Britain's ambassador of style and attitude but is an international success story that stretches 40 years, and continues to excel. G.Room is a new men's retail concept focusing on everything about a man's appearance from his wardrobe to grooming to music to facial products to books.....it's fantastic. Lush are the creators of handmade bath & body delights and are also an international success story. The products are delicious, almost edible. Liberty, the world famous department store, is located on Regent Street right by Carnaby Street and even if you don't go in, looking at the building from the outside is enough. The architecture is stunning. For something different, and little naughty, is Tabooboo - a new fashion label and sex brand with its first stand alone store on Foubert´s Place. Selling beautiful lingerie and interesting adult toys, Tabooboo is definitely one of the most unique stores on the block.
And there are so many more. Buffy's Beads & Monty the Cat is a high quality and superb bead store and Contemporary Ceramics is an ever-changing studio housing exclusively British pottery.
Carnaby Street is known for being the headquarters of everything hip and happening, but there are other businesses that cater to others needs. One example is Triyoga, a new yoga centre located in Kingly Court offering yoga, Pilates and holistic treatments - a tranquil escape from the craziness outside.
For eating, drinking and resting after shopping up a storm there are cafes, bars and restaurants scattered all around. The Firkin and the Shakespeare´s Head are pubs located near Great Marlborough Street and there's a great nightlife in Carnaby Street with jazz clubs and special VIP bars.
You could also take a break in Golden Square, to the south of Carnaby Street, but if it's a sunny weekday you'll have to squeeze in between the rest of the sun-seekers catching the rays before heading back to work.

Oxford Circus, Tottenham Court Road, Piccadilly Circus and Leicester Square underground stations are all within a few minutes walking distance to Carnaby Street. The very closest is Oxford Street being only 250 metres from the northern end of Carnaby Street.
Whilst there are no hotels actually located on Carnaby Street, the surrounding area offers many as it is in the center of the West End. Oxford Street, Bloomsbury and Mayfair are all walking distance and the tube system enables you to travel from Kensington Gloucester Road to Piccadilly Circus in just a very few minutes from where Carnaby Street in less than a 10 minute walk.
