Cranley Gardens Hotel London

"Location, location, location"
The Cranley Gardens certainly has that aspect ! The area of South Kensington (SW7) is prime property land in central London. Because of its upmarket qualities, there are a mass of great restaurants, bars and shops. The local tube station, Gloucester Road, has the Circle and District Line which apart from servicing all central London has a direct link to Heathrow Airport.

ABOUT THE CRANLEY GARDENS
The Cranley Gardens Hotel is not in the same league as for example the Marriott Kensington or the Millennium Gloucester but then neither is the price that you will pay.
We have seen comments about it being quaint (English decor rather than bland chain hotel) and having small bathrooms (applies to most London hotels of this middle standard) but then lets be honest, if you want spacious bathrooms and designer bed covers then look at the 4 star market and double your budget.
The hotel is in a perfect location and is of a perfectly acceptable tourist class standard.
The winning issue with the Cranley Gardens is its convenience for accessing London. Within a 20 minute walk you can get to:
The Royal Albert Hall
The Victoria and Albert Museum
The Science Museum
The Natural History Museum
Harrods
Harvey Nichols
Hyde Park
Earls Court Exhibition Center
High Street Kensington
Chelsea
Knightsbridge
Chelsea Football Club
The area of South Kensington and Chelsea offers thousands of restaurants and bars and within a few minutes walk you have the trendy area of Kings Road - a must visit in the evenings.
You are also less than 5 minutes walk from the Grosvenor Casino and also Sainsburys, a huge 24x7 superstore. Of interest is the new Wholefoods Market on High Street Kensington where you have 80,000 square feet of foodie heaven, you can also eat here.
TRAVEL
From Heathrow Airport
Underground: Take the Piccadilly Line into London and get off at Gloucester Road. The Hotel is 5 mn walk from the station
Heathrow Express: Take the express train to Paddington Station and then take a taxi
Airport Taxi: expect to pay approx £50.00
From Gatwick Airport
Take the Gatwick Express train from inside the airport terminal direct to Victoria Station and then change to the Circle and District Line for the short trip to Gloucester Road.
OUR OPINION
The Cranley Gardens is a tried and tested tourist class hotel and we have no problems recommending it. Up to £100 a night for a two person room is acceptable. Above this price check out others in the area.
