OVERVIEW OF THE DORCHESTER HOTEL

A very special hotel, The Dorchester has provided elite accommodation for well heeled persons for the last 75 years. Located on Park Lane in London's rich area of Mayfair, this 5 star hotel is famous the world over.
This location, overlooking Hyde Park and Park Lane, is so convenient for shopping in Bond Street, Mayfair, the Burlington Arcade or Knightsbridge as well as attractions such as the Royal Albert Hall and Buckingham Palace.
The Dorchester is London's principal host of stars, celebrities, and newsmakers, with an almost continuous limousine circuit to and from the film premières of Leicester Square and daily mentions in the press.
The hotel has been providing hospitality to the celebrated since its opening in 1931, with Winston Churchill and General Eisenhower in residence during the war.
It's easy to understand why this has been the place to be seen for more than 75 years: perched magnificently on the edge of Hyde Park with the heart of exclusive Mayfair at its back, the Dorchester dominates Park Lane in a pioneering 1930s structure filled with open space and arresting Art Deco motifs. 53 Park Lane is, simply put, the most prestigious London address this side of 10 Downing Street.

Also attracting the rich and famous to the hotel is its proximity to nearly all of London's top shopping destinations. Bond Street, Oxford Street, Piccadilly and Knightsbridge are within a mile.

Adding to the splendour, Hyde Park is just outside with promises of horseback riding and boating on the Serpentine. Buckingham Palace is only the start of a lengthy list of historically important sights too nearby to pass up.

If guests do find it necessary to venture to more distant quarters of London, the underground is not far away at Hyde Park Corner and Marble Arch stations on the Piccadilly and Central lines.

The Piccadilly line runs direct to Heathrow Airport in 50 minutes, and 25 minute express trains to Gatwick are a short taxi ride away at Victoria station. To arrive in style, of course, the hotel can also arrange collection by chauffer, and limited parking is available on site with three more garages in the vicinity.

The Dorchester's rooms are, unsurprisingly, paragons of luxury, all featuring views over Hyde Park or the hotel's own landscaped terraces. Art Deco touches extend to the spacious Italian marble bathrooms with the deepest baths available in London.

21st century amenities include 42 inch plasma screen televisions, individually controlled air conditioning, high speed Internet and music on demand. Pets however are not catered for.

The hotel's historic suites are now joined by three brand new Roof Suites refurbished by designer Alexandra Champalimaud in 2007.

This extremely popular house of French culinary alchemy joins the long time favourite Dorchester Grill, the stylish China Tang, and the central Promenade, a buzzing café area the length of Nelson's Column.
The hotel is well equipped for the finest of banquets and meetings, with some of the most beautiful event rooms in London reserved for truly extravagant gatherings.
"The Bar" is open to guests and non-residents and has live sets by leading DJ, Tom Mannix on Monday and Friday nights weekly.
