City Thameslink Station is located in close proximity to a number of places of interest within the City of London, such as the Museum of London, located on London Wall EC2. The world famous St Paul's Cathedral, designed by Sir Christopher Wren, stands 400m south-east of City Thameslink Station on Ludgate Hill. The Guildhall, home of the Corporation of London, can be found 700m east of City Thameslink Station, on Gresham Street EC2. The Guildhall Art Gallery, Guildhall Clock Museum and Guildhall Library are all located behind Gresham Street EC2 in Gresham Yard, as is the St Lawrence Jewry Church.
City Thameslink Station is closed on Sundays, while the ticket office at the station is open between 07.05am-20.20pm Monday to Saturday. Due to is busy central location, City Thameslink Station is served well by licensed (black) London taxis. A typical fare from City Thameslink into the heart of London EC2 will be 4-5 pounds, depending of traffic levels. Travellers to City Thameslink can reach Bank, which is located 800m east, by travelling along Cheapside into Poultry EC2. Mansion House, the official residence of the Lord Mayor of London, is located here, as is the Bank of England, which has its headquarters on Princes Street EC2, Lothbury EC2 and Threadneedle Street EC2. The exclusive Royal Exchange, home of designer jewellers such as De Beers and Tiffany & Co. can also be found close to Bank Station, between Cornhill EC3 and Threadneedle Street. |
