Finsbury Circus EC2 is situated between Moorgate EC2 and London Wall EC2, close to Liverpool Street Station. Finsbury Circus, the oldest public park in the City of London, dates back to 1606. The peaceful grounds here are popular with city workers and lively public jazz concerts are held here in summer months. There is a well maintained bowling green located in Finsbury Square, which is surrounded by a number of offices of insurance and financial companies, such as those located within Royal London House, at its north eastern end.
Finsbury Circus is located next to one of the sites of the London City Campus of the London Metropolitan University, at 84 Moorgate EC2. The Department of Accounting, Banking and Financial Systems of the university is located here in a neo-classical building, constructed between 1900-1903. There are a number of shops situated on Moorgate and Finsbury Pavement EC2, 50m north of Finsbury Square, including Gap at 74-76 Finsbury Pavement EC2 and Marks & Spencer, situated at 70 Finsbury Pavement EC2.
Finsbury Circus is close to a number of popular attractions within the City, such as the Barbican arts centre, situated 450m north-west. The Barbican is home to a theatre, two cinemas and a contemporary art gallery. Regular concerts are held at the Barbican, which is home to the London Symphony Orchestra (LSO) and was formerly the London base of the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) who still regularly perform at this world famous venue. The Museum of London is also located in this area, 700m west of Finsbury Circus at the western end of London Wall. The Museum of London has an extensive collection of artifacts found in London from the prehistoric era through to modern times. Interactive displays, exhibitions and events all take place at the Museum of London, which is free to enter.
Finsbury Circus is situated 400m west of Bishopsgate EC2, a major highway that runs through the centre of the City of London. The unique Lloyd's Building stands on Leadenhall Street EC3 and Lime Street EC3, minutes from Bishopsgate. This distinctive glass and steel structure was designed by Richard Rogers and opened in 1986 by Queen Elizabeth II. The Lloyd's of London building is positioned next to Leadenhall Market, which is located on Gracechurch Street EC3 and Lime Street EC3. This covered market is famous for its fishmongers and fine wine merchants, as well as the Lamb Tavern public house. Other places of interest close to Finsbury Circus include the Broadgate Ice Rink, positioned 200m north-east behind Liverpool Street Station and the Bank of England (400m south).
Finsbury Circus is close to excellent bus, London Underground and rail services. Liverpool Street Station, which runs London Underground and rail services, including the Stansted Express, can be found 250m east of Finsbury Circus. Moorgate rail and London Underground station is situated 75m west of Finsbury Circus and runs Circle, Hammersmith & City, Metropolitan and Northern line services to stations such as Bank (1 stop) Aldgate (2 stops) and Barbican (1 stop).
