Overview
The Great Eastern Hotel is located in the City of London which can be a bargain at weekends due to the lack of business travellers. The area is very busy Monday to Friday and almost deserted at weekends. Local attractions include the Tower of London and St Pauls Cathedral. Covent Garden is only 3km to the west and Southbank is on the opposite side of the river.
Client comments - modern, excellent staff, great weekend rates and upgrades.
The Great Eastern hotel re-opened its doors in 2000 after a total refurbishment costing £70 million. While reviving the splendour of the original Victorian hotel, the new design injects the building with a strong spirit of modernity and contemporary design.

Each of the Great Eastern Hotel rooms and suites is different, but all are light, spacious and easy on the eye. Plush seating and rich wool carpeting, fine linens, CD and DVD players appear in every room. The bathrooms offer extra-large baths, powerful showers, and cotton bathrobes and towels. All rooms offer high-speed Internet access, ergonomic workstations, TV, minibar, hairdryers, room safe, complimentary newspaper, voicemail and climate control.

The Great Eastern Hotel fitness and treatment centre, called Train, has a range of cardiovascular equipment and resistance weights. The staff also provide personal trainers and fitness advice if requested. There are also classes for yoga, Tai Chi and Pilates. Treatments include aromatherapy and relaxation.

With four restaurants, four bars, and 24-hour room service, the Great Eastern Hotel serves a large variety of fresh and healthy food and drinks.

Travelling to the Great Eastern Hotel from London Heathrow is very simple. Take the Heathrow Express to London Paddington Station, a less than 20 minute journey, then the underground direct to Liverpool Street Station. From London City Airport there is a bus shuttle direct to Liverpool Street which takes 25 minutes.
