About Bond Street Tube Station

Located on Oxford Street opposite Selfridges and surrounded by London's largest concentration of designer clothes stores, Bond Street Underground is between Oxford Circus and Marble Arch.

Accessed by the Central Line and Jubilee Line , there's fast transport links to Green Park, Baker Street and Charing Cross (Jubilee), and Liverpool Street and Notting Hill Gate (Central Line) - in fact, the Central Line traverses the whole of Oxford Street with stops at Tottenham Court Road, Oxford Circus, here and Marble Arch.

Much like its MI5 namesake, Bond Street is the epitome of style - designers from Alexander McQueen to Yves-Saint Laurent are represented in over 60 boutiques, as well as blinged-out jewellers like Tiffany, Bulgari and Hermes.

This Mayfair district is also home to the famous Sotheby's auction house, a world leader in fine art and antiques. Bond Street itself doesn't actually exist - the street is split into two, New Bond and Old Bond, and many of the best designer retailers are found on South Molton Street just by the tube.

There's also a statue of FDR and Winston Churchill chatting happily on a bench nearby, with the British bulldog clutching his trademark cigar triumphantly - and all this years before the smoking ban forced London's tobacco-lovers out of the pubs and offices and into the streets.

Bond Street, Mayfair, West End: all these three addresses in London translate into "expensive hotels" so be prepared to pay dearly for the luxury of staying in one of Londons most exclusive areas.

Within a couple of minutes of Bond Street tube station is the Millennium Mayfair Hotel which does offer reasonable weekend prices. Also in Grosvenor Square is the Marriott Grosvenor Square.

If the budget is an issue then look at the St Giles Hotel less than 1km to the east along Oxford Street.
