Liverpool Street hotels
Liverpool Street was named after Lord Liverpool who was the British Prime Minister in the early 20th century. Liverpool Street is a small street, only 200 metres long, which joins Finsbury Circus to Bishopsgate along the northern edge of Liverpool Street Station. The Great Eastern Hotel has dominated this street since 1884.Liverpool Street Station was opened in 1874 and has always been one of the busiest stations in London with 125 million visitors every year. It is the London terminus of the former Great Eastern Railway, which had routes to Norwich, Ipswich, Kings Lynn via Cambridge. The main arterial road out side of the station is Bishopsgate. This very busy road is home to many international companies. The area is good for accessing many City locations including Moorgate and Aldersgate which are only a 5 minute walk to the west. St Pauls Cathedral is just a few minutes walk to the south west and The Tower of London is 15 minutes to the south. The Barbican lies just 10 minutes walk away and the markets of the East End are walkable, notable ones being Brick Lane and Petticoat Lane. Hotels near to Liverpool Street London are plentiful and mainly upmarket, catering to the many corporate visitors to the Financial District of the Square Mile. Because many business visitors are staying several weeks or more, there has recently been an upsurge in short let apartments which may be worthwhile checking out. One advantage of staying in this area around Liverpool Street is that weekend rates are low due to the disappearance of the business traveller.
