The Gielgud theatre is located on Shaftesbury Avenue in the West End of London.

The easiest way to access this theatre is via Piccadilly Circus tube station and then walk 250 metres along Shaftsbury avenue. This area of London is very busy night and day and if you are arriving by car we suggest that you use the NCP secure parking facility on the Brewer Street which is only a 5 minutes easy walk from the theatre.

This theatre was opened more so than the 100 years ago and was first called the Hicks theatre after the famous actor Seymour Hicks. It was later renamed the Globe theatre but its name was changed to the Gielgud theatre to allow the opening of Shakespeare's Globe theatre.

For the hard of hearing headsets are available from the cloakroom and the best reception is at the front of all levels of the auditorium. Guide dogs and wheelchairs are allowed. The theatre does have a bar.

Hotels in this area of London tend to be expensive. Within a 15 minute walk is the St Giles Hotel. This is a medium priced three star conveniently located in the west end of London and close to most theatres. If you are looking for something more luxurious then check out the Holborn hotel close to Southampton Row, this five star hotel has been known to offer very cheap weekend prices.

The Strand Palace is only a very few minutes easy stroll to Covent Garden, the London Eye and Drury Lane. The hotel is located on the Strand in the West End and is close to many theatres, restaurants and bars. To its north lies Holborn and Russell Square, an area that is home to the British Museum, whilst to the east lies Tottenham Court Road, Trafalgar Square and the National Gallery.
