HAYMARKET LONDON
Haymarket is a street just south of Piccadilly Circus in central London postcode SW1 and runs north to south from Coventry Street to Pall Mall East. It was probably a market for hay and straw supplying the nearby Royal Mews horses in the 17th century. Haymarket is now a mixture of international companies such as American Express and busy restaurants including Blue Lagoon. Being in the West End of London, Haymarket is close to many attractions and landmarks. Trafalgar Square is just at the southern end and Piccadilly and Leicester Square at the northern end. The National Portrait Gallery is also close by which houses more than 10,000 pictures both historic and modern. The world famous Jermyn Street can be found near the top end of Haymarket, here you can buy those special items of clothing unique to London, check out Thomas Pink for shirts. Perhaps the most well known locations on Haymarket are the Haymarket Theatre Royal and Her Majesties Theatre. Further afield is the London Eye, about a 20 minute walk and Buckingham Palace also about 20 minutes walk. Covent Garden is 800 metres to the east.

The nearest Underground station is Piccadilly which is 100 metres from the top of Haymarket.

From Piccadilly underground exit, walk 50 metres to the east and you will be at the northern end of Haymarket which only 300 metres long. |

The Covent Garden Hotel which is a hip hotel near to Covent Garden. The Strand Palace Hotel is a good 3 star hotel just a few hundred metres away from Haymarket and is situated on the Aldwych close to the Aldwych Theatre. The Travelodge Covent Garden Hotel is also worth considering. Hotels near to Haymarket tend to be on the expensive side because it is the West End. If you prefer a London hotel with a lower budget then consider Kensington around Gloucester Road where there are many good quality hotels at lower rates. The journey from South Kensington direct to Piccadilly Circus by underground takes 10 minutes and is a direct service.
