Hotels near to Wimbledon London
Every year, thousands of lucky tennis fans converge on London for the Wimbledon Tennis Championships which is always the last week in June and the first in July. Located at the The All England Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club in London postcode SW19, the ground is several miles south of central london in a leafy London suburb. If you do not have a ticket in the ballot, then around 1500 tickets for the main courts of play are sold on the day at the front gate. An additional 6000 are sold daily for ground access and outside court play. Be warned, people queue all night and it has become a tradition to do so in a party type atmosphere, unfortunatly, when the author did it, he slept through the days matches!

Hotel accommodation in Wimbledon in the immediate area will be very hard to locate unless booked well in advance and prices will be at a premium. The nearest hotel to Wimbledon Tennis Club is Cannizaro House which is a country house type modern hotel set in parkland and very close to the Championships, however expect to pay £250 - £300 a night. A better option may be the Holiday Inn Express Wimbledon South. If a visit to the Wimbledon Championships incurs only a one or two day trip and you also wish to see central london then you should look in the Kensington and Earls Court areas. From here the underground runs to Wimbledon in around 25 minutes. The District Line runs from Earls Court and Gloucester Road directly to Wimbledon station which is pleasant 1 km walk to the Tennis ground. If you have no ticket for the matches then remember that you can jump on the underground from central London in the afternoons and queue for an evening ticket at a lower price than all all day ticket. Suggested hotels suited to accessing Wimbledon by being no more than 5 minutes walk to either Gloucester Road or Earls Court Underground stations include
the Ibis Hotel Earl's Court, Montana Hotel and the Holiday Inn Kensington Forum.
