King Street EC2 links two of the City of London's major highways, Cheapside EC2 and Gresham Street EC2. King Street, which shares a junction with Trump Street EC2, is situated in close proximity to many places of interest within the City's financial district. King Street was created after the Great Fire of London, along with Queen Street EC4 and Queen Street Place EC4, to link the river Thames with London's Guildhall.

King Street is home to the Kings House office complex, located close to its junction with Cheapside. Kings House, which is home to a variety of international companies, is located on the west side of King Street. King Street leads into Guildhall Yard EC2, home of the Guildhall, Clockmaker's Museum, Guildhall Library and the Guildhall Art Gallery. The St Lawrence Jewry church, place of worship of the Lord Mayor of London, stands between Aldermanbury and Guildhall Yard. The Guildhall is open from 10.00am-17.00pm daily between May and September, and from Monday to Saturday from October till April. Visitors can visit the Grand Hall of the Guildhall, a Grade I listed building that is home to the City of London Corporation. Built between 1411-1430, the Guildhall, which is still used for state occasions and the installation of the Lord Mayor of London, is a fine example of medieval architecture.

King Street is close to a number of places of interest within the City of London, including the halls of some of the City Livery Companies, such as Grocer's Hall, located on Princes Street EC2 and Mercers Hall, once home to the Bank of England, situated on Ironmonger Lane EC2. The Museum of London is also located near King Street, on London Wall EC2. The Museum of London, which is free to enter, provides an insight into the history of London, with interactive displays and prehistoric artefacts on show. Other places of interest close to King Street include the Bank of England building (300m east), the exclusive Royal Exchange (350m east) and St Paul's Cathedral (400m south-west).

King Street is situated in close proximity to many bus routes, London Underground services and railway stations. Bank Station, which is linked to Monument Underground Station, is located 300m east of King Street. Bank Station provides extensive London Underground services over 5 lines and runs Docklands Light Railway (DLR) services to destinations including Greenwich, London City Airport and Stratford. St Paul's Underground Station, on the Central line, can be found 500m west of King Street, while Moorgate Station, which runs London Underground and rail services, is located 450m north.
