The London EC2 area is situated in the northern part of the City of London, from Cheapside to Beech Street at its northern point, with Bishopsgate at its eastern end. London Wall EC2 runs though the centre of London EC2, which has junctions with Moorgate and Old Broad Street, both major streets within the financial district of the City of London.

Cheapside, the site of London's main medieval market, stretches east from its junction with Aldersgate Street, where St Pauls Underground Station stands, into Poultry, named after the many poulterers that once lived on this site. There are a number of streets that link Cheapside with Gresham Street, another main highway within the City, that is home to the Guildhall, Guildhall Art Gallery, Guildhall Clock Museum and Guildhall Library, as well as the St Lawrence Jewry church, official place of worship of the Lord Mayor of London. The grand Girdlers Hall is also located in this area, between Basinghall Avenue EC2 and Coleman Street EC2, on Basinghall Avenue. Streets which connect Cheapside and Gresham Street include Foster Lane EC2, King Street EC2 and Wood Street, which stretches north through London Wall into Fore Street. Old Jewry links Cheapside and Poultry with Gresham Street and Lothbury, which leads into Throgmorton Street.
London Wall, home of the Museum of London and the impressive Moorhouse office complex, lies in the heart of the London EC2 area, with links to many streets that are home to offices of financial and insurance companies, such as Aldermanbury, Finsbury Circus, Moorgate and Throgmorton Avenue. Old Broad Street, home of Tower 42, begins at Threadneedle Street, through London Wall to Liverpool Street, home of Liverpool Street Station, which also has entrances on Sun Street and Bishopsgate. The All Hallows London Wall church is located 50m west of Old Broad Street on London Wall.
Moorgate, which leads into Finsbury Pavement, is located at the northern end of London EC2 and is linked to places including Ropemaker Street and Moorfields, via Moor Place. Moorgate Underground Station, which provides National Rail and tube services, on the Circle, Hammersmith & City, Metropolitan and Northern lines, has entrances on both Moorfields and Moorgate, close to the City campus of the London Metropolitan University. Finsbury Pavement, which runs parallel to Wilson Street, leads into City Road EC1 and Finsbury Square, is home to a number of high street stores and bars, including Gap, Marks & Spencer and All Bar One.

The Barbican, Europe's largest multi arts centre, is located north of London Wall on Silk Street, close to Beech Street. The Barbican hosts a wide range of cinema, music and theatre events throughout the year, and is home to the renowned Searcy's restaurant and Waterside Cafe. The Guildhall School of Music & Drama is located opposite the main building of the Barbican, with an entrance on Fore Street EC2, close to the impressive St Giles Cripplegate Church.

The London EC2 area has excellent bus, National Rail and London Underground services within it. Liverpool Street Station, home of the London terminal of the Stansted Express, Moorgate Underground Station and St Paul's Underground Station are all located within London EC2, while Bank Station has an entrance on Princes Street. Bank Station stands in close proximity to the Bank of England building and museum, which has an entrance on Batholomew Lane.
