Moorfields EC2, which runs parallel to Moorgate EC2, stretches north from Fore Street Avenue EC2 into Ropemaker Street EC2. Moorfields, which has junctions with Moor Place EC2 and New Union Street EC2, is named after the moor that was located just outside the City walls, which was drained in 1527.
Moorfields is home to one of the entrances to Moorgate Station, close to one of the main sites of the City campus of the London Metropolitan University, at 24 Moorgate EC2. Moorfields is located 50m east of the City Point office complex that dominates this area of the City of London. Headquarters of Simmonds and Simmonds, City point is also home to a number of other international companies. The Cuban, Digress City and the renowned Corney & Barrow bar and restaurant are all located within the City Point complex, at 1 Ropemaker Street EC2.
Moorfields is home to the Rack & Tenter public house, located at 45 Moorfields EC2. Moorfields is home to Moorgate Station, which runs National Rail and Circle, Hammersmith & City, Northern and Metropolitan line tube services to destinations including Kings Cross St. Pancras (3 stops), Barbican (1 stop) and London Bridge (2 stops). Liverpool Street Station, which provides London Underground services across 4 lines, is located 500m east of Moorfields. Liverpool Street Station is also home to the London terminal of the Stansted Express. Bank Station, which is linked to Monument Underground Station, can be found 500m south of Moorfields, next to the Bank of England building and the Royal Exchange.
