Moorgate Underground Station is located 100m north of London Wall EC2, with entrances on Moorgate EC2 and Moorfields EC2, in the City of London. Moorgate Underground Station, which is located in London Travelcard Zone 1, provides Circle, Hammersmith & City and Metropolitan line services and is served by the Bank branch of the Northern line. Destinations within easy reach of Moorgate Underground Station include Bank (1 stop), Liverpool Street (1 stop) and Kings Cross St. Pancras (3 stops). Moorgate Underground Station also runs First Capital Connect services to destinations across the south-east, such as Finsbury Park, Potters Bar and Welwyn Garden City.

Moorgate Underground Station is one of the busiest on the London Underground network, transporting over 16 million passengers annually. Moorgate Station stands in close proximity to a number of other stations within the EC2 area, including Liverpool Street, located 600m east on Bishopsgate EC2, Liverpool Street EC2 and Sun Street EC2. Liverpool Street Station also provides extensive tube services, on the Central, Circle, Hammersmith & City and Metropolitan lines and also runs National Rail services, including the Stansted Express.

Moorgate Underground Station is located 600m north of Bank Station, located on King William Street EC4, with entrances on Princes Street EC2 and Threadneedle Street EC2. Bank is connected to Monument Underground Station and together they provide Central, Circle, District, Northern and Waterloo & City line services to destinations across London. Bank Station also runs Docklands Light Railway (DLR) services to stations including Greenwich, London City Airport and Stratford. Places of interest located close to Bank include the Bank of England building, Mansion House and the exclusive Royal Exchange.

Moorfields Underground Station is located in close proximity to a number of places of interest within the northern part of the City of London. The Museum of London, which documents the history of London from prehistoric times to the present day, can be found 500m west of of Moorgate Station on London Wall. The Barbican, Europe's largest multi arts centre, which holds a wide range of cinema, theatre and music events, is situated 400m north-west of Moorgate Station on Silk Street EC2. Other attractions in walking distance of Moorgate Station include St Paul's Cathedral (700m south-west), the Guildhall, Guildhall Art Gallery and the Guildhall Museum, situated 400m south-west in Guildhall Yard EC2, off Gresham Street EC2.
