Photos: A Stroll across London Bridge
Spanning the River Thames, London Bridge not only connects the City of London on the north with Southwark on the south bank, it also serves as a link to London’s past. With Monument Underground Station just to its north and London Bridge Rail and Undergroung Station steps from it to the south, London Bridge is very accessible. But please note that this is not the iconic bridge with the massive towers on either side of its span. That’s Tower Bridge a little further to the east. No, London Bridge is the less attractive but considerably more historic bridge just west of Tower Bridge and east of Cannon Street Railway Bridge. London Bridge has been around in some form or other for some odd 2000 years. Today, it serves as an excellent location for viewing Tower Bridge as well as the HMS Belfast. Other nearby attractions include Borough Market, the London Dungeon, Southwark Cathedral and the newly re-opened Monument.
