Looking for a quick and delicious lunch during the week? How about an interesting street for a midday stroll? Consider Whitecross Street, where pinstriped business executives queue up along side up-and-coming hipsters and local stalwarts for some of London’s yummiest street food!
Whitecross Street is a short and cozy lane in the St Luke’s area of the London Borough of Islington. Conveniently situated on the edge of the City of London, Whitecross runs from hip and happening Old Street to the mammoth architectural marvel (and Europe’s largest multi-arts and conference venue) the Barbican. Many financial district businesses, office buildings and hotels are just a short walk away. In addition to a handful of noted restaurants as well as a variety of shops, a few old school caffs, a couple of pubs, a gallery and even a Waitrose, Whitecross hosts a weekday street market (10am-5pm) which is particularly bustling (and yummy!) come Thursday and Friday.
Best bet? Luardo’s Mexican Street Food offers a good, inexpensive and filling lunch. But options for lunchgoers range from home cooked Italian dishes to Caribbean style curries to gourmet Scotch eggs and more!
