Old Broad Street EC2 is located between Liverpool Street EC2 at its northern point and Threadneedle Street EC2 at its southern end, within the financial district of the City of London. Old Broad Street has junctions with London Wall EC2, New Broad Street EC2, Throgmorton Street EC2 and Wormwood Street EC2. Old Broad Street is a section of the ancient Broad Street, which formerly ran from London Wall to Mansion House, along what is now Threadneedle Street.

Old Broad Street is home to the world famous Tower 42 building, formerly the NatWest Tower, which opened in 1981 and is located at 25 Old Broad Street EC2. This 183m structure is now owned by British property company Greycoat and is home to offices of a number of international insurance and financial companies. The popular Rhodes 24 restaurant, which is run by renowned British chef Gary Rhodes, is located in Tower 42, as is the Vertigo 42 restaurant and champagne bar, situated on the 42nd floor. Vertigo 42 is famous for its excellent seafood and the views it provides of the London skyline, of landmarks such as St Paul's Cathedral, Tower Bridge and the Swiss Re tower.

Old Broad Street is close to a number of places of interest within the City of London such as the controversial Lloyd's Building (300m south). This huge structure, located on Leadenhall Street EC3 and Lime Street EC3, was designed by architect Richard Rogers and officially opened by Queen Elizabeth II in 1986. The Lloyd's of London building stands next to the historic Leadenhall Market, which is situated between Lime Street and Gracechurch Street EC3. Leadenhall Market, renowned for its quality wine merchants, fishmongers and butchers, is home to the Lamb Tavern and the Cotriani Italian restaurant, located at 48-52 Leadenhall Market EC3. Other places of interest close to Old Broad Street include the Bank of England and Royal Exchange, which can be reached via Threadneedle Street.

Old Broad Street is home to the Gow's Oyster Bar and Restaurant, part of the prestigious Balls Brothers chain, located at 21 Old Broad Street EC2, opposite Liverpool Street Station. The menu at Gow's, which contains fish, game and vegetarian dishes made from the finest ingredients, changes every two weeks. The Gow's Restaurant is opened from 12.00pm-16.00pm for lunch and from 17.00pm for dinner. The Gow's Oyster Bar provides fresh oysters and light snacks throughout the day and has an impressive wine and cocktail menu.

Old Broad Street benefits from excellent transport links, close to bus, rail and underground services. Bank Station, which is linked to Monument Station and provides Circle, Central, District, Northern and Waterloo & City line services, is located 600m south of Old Broad Street. Bank Station also runs Docklands Light Railway (DLR) services to stations including Canary Wharf, London City Airport and Greenwich. Liverpool Street Station, which runs London Underground and rail services, including the Stansted Express, can be found 200m north of Old Broad Street. Moorgate Station, situated 700m east of Old Broad Street, provides rail and London Underground services on the Circle, Hammersmith & City,Metropolitan and Northern lines.
