Oxford Street Overview
Oxford Street in London is perhaps one of the worlds most famous shopping streets for tourists. It is located in the West End of London running from Marble Arch in the west to Tottenham Court Road in the east and is over one mile in length. The midway point is marked by a large circular road junction, Oxford Circus, situated in london postcode area W1R. To the north of Oxford Street the areas are mainly residential i.e. Marylebone and to the south are a mixture of upscale or hip residential and commercial i.e. Mayfair and Soho.
How to get to Oxford Street
Oxford Street has 39 bus routes and 30 bus stops. Along Oxford Street every hour of the daytime you can expect up to 250 buses and 750 taxis. The four Underground stations on Oxford Street are used by over 100 million people every year. Oxford Circus is the busiest underground station in London, with more than 1 million passengers every week. The Central Line runs the whole length of Oxford Street. Many people actually stay in nearby Kensington and the trip into Oxford Street from here is only a few minutes by underground or a 20 minute walk across Hyde Park.
