Quality Crown Kensington

Hotel Address 162 Cromwell Road, Kensington, London SW5 0TT UK
Nearest Tube Earls Court and Gloucester Road

Location is the key word with this 4 star hotel, it is situated in the royal borough of Kensington between 3 tube stations which are just minutes away, Kensington High Street, Earls Court and Gloucester Road (District and Circle lines).

Earls Court is also a few minutes away (District and Piccadilly line for Heathrow). A Saxon aristocrat named Cynesige gave the place its name and it has remained a regal part of London since. Earls Court is where the big exhibitions are held in London along with the biggest names in music in concert, so this hotel is ideal for anyone who has that on the menu.

The Royal Albert Hall is just a 15 minute walk, and for the tennis fans Wimbledon is accessible via Earls Court tube. The West Cromwell hospital is also nearby. Shopping in Kensington High Street is a joy to behold with some of the best brands represented; a bargain or two is just a short walk away and back again.

Chelsea is nearby and boasts some of the best cafes, bistros, restaurants and pubs in London, here you will see the upper classes of the `Chelsea Set` as they socialise in yet another royal borough. Pub culture in London tends to differ from borough to borough, but Chelsea is quite unique and you may even spot a celebrity or 3.

For those seeking a bit of culture the Natural History, the Victoria and Albert and the Science Museums are just a mile away and an easy walk, entrance is usually free. Eating out will leave you pondering for hours as the choices are huge, but you won't be disappointed, spoilt a little maybe but that's just London for you.

Rooms and Suites

This hotel offers a range of rooms and suites to suit all budgets and requirements, it is important to make sure you book the right type of room; they have some rooms that are compact yet comfortable. If you like a big room remember that English city hotel rooms are not usually huge, so make sure you book the right size room. The suites are of course more spacious and great for those visitors who want to entertain or do business in comfortable surroundings. Full room service is available to all rooms and suites. Every room has direct dial telephones, tea/coffee facilities, complimentary wi-fi is available all through the hotel with cable high speed also available, en-suites are a good size with bath and shower over and W.C. with sink, fresh towels and a chamber maid service is daily. There are lifts to all floors and irons, boards and hairdryers are included. The rooms themselves are thoughtfully decorated in a modern style and the T.V. is a state of the art flat screen with on demand movies. Since its refurbishment 2 years ago this hotel has acquired a 4 star AA rating and now boasts many corporate clients who stay and use the conference facilities, this in itself speaks volumes for any London hotel.

Leisure

The hotel has an in-house fitness centre for those busy business clients, visitors who love to walk everywhere and those who are spending hours each day doing retail therapy. Relaxing in the lounge bar watching sports and the news on the huge plasma screen, whilst sipping a Coffee Republic drink and nibbling on a delicious pastry is a `must do` after a day out in busy London. The lounge bar has indoor and outdoor seating. The fully stocked bar has waiter service and a full compliment of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.

Dining

The dining room is a new addition which is being well received by residents. The food is based on a bistro menu which includes drinks, starters, main meals and deserts. You can choose from ciabatta to mushrooms or soup for starters, with main meal choices of burgers, steak, pasta and pizza all baked in their own ovens, the deserts menu is also varied. For those who wish to dine out the immediate area has some of the best restaurants and bistros in West London. The pubs are also quite friendly places and most of these do traditional English fare and ales. The choices vary from Indian, Chinese, English, American and Italian restaurants most of which display their menus outside, booking is recommended as these eateries are well frequented by business people and locals. The hotel staff are friendly and well informed about the local facilities, so ask at the desk and they will be happy to recommend and book tables for you. The hotel will also provide you with tourist information and book fast track tickets to avoid the queues.

The Verdict

All in all an excellent hotel that offers a range of rooms for most budgets and company accounts. The location is superb for easy access into central London, tourist attractions and theatre land. The central areas of Covent Garden and Soho are a few stops on the tube, but walking to shops like Harrods and Harvey Nichols is also a breeze. Highly recommended.
