Ropemaker Street EC2 is positioned between Moor Lane EC2 at its western end, leading east into Finsbury Pavement EC2 and Moorgate EC2, close to Moorgate Station. Ropemaker Street, named after the many rope walks located in this area up until the mid 19th century, has junctions with Moorfields EC2 and Finsbury Street EC2. The famous writer and journalist Daniel Defoe died in his lodgings on Ropemaker Street in April 1731.
