| Ropemaker Street EC2 is positioned between Moor Lane at its western end, leading east into Finsbury Pavement and Moorgate, close to Moorgate Station. Ropemaker Street, named after the many rope walks located in this area up until the mid 19th century, has junctions with Moorfields and Finsbury Street EC2. The famous writer and journalist Daniel Defoe died in his lodgings on Ropemaker Street in April 1731. Ropemaker Street is close to Finsbury Circus and the many bars, restaurants and high street stores on Finsbury Pavement. |
