St Botolph Street EC3 is situated in the east of the City of London close to Aldgate High Street and Houndsditch. St Botolph Street was formerly the site of four churches, built in the 10th and 11th centuries, that lined the main gates into the City of London. These churches were created for the safety and peace of those travelling in and out of London. One of these places of worship, St Botolph's Aldgate, can be found on St Botolph Street today. St Botolph's Aldgate is a brick and stone structure that faces south onto Aldgate High Street and has a distinctive obelisk spire.

St Botolph Street is home to a number of shops and restaurants, including Covino's, a popular Italian restaurant located at 15 St Botolph Street EC3. There are also many retail outlets and restaurants serving traditional and contemporary Bangladeshi, Indian and European cuisine on Aldgate High Street. Middlesex Street E1 stretches north from St Botolph Street into Bishopsgate. Middlesex Street is the location of a section of London's famous Petticoat Lane Market. Bishopsgate can also be reached from the western end of St Botolph Street, via Houndsditch EC3. Bishopsgate, which leads to Liverpool Street Station at its northern, is a major road within the City of London and is close to Old Broad Street EC3, home to the 183m high Tower 42, formerly the NatWest Tower, which was once Britain's tallest building.

St Botolph Street is 400m from the unique Lloyds Building, which is located on Leadenhall Street and Lime Street EC3. The exclusive Leadenhall Market, home to quality butchers and fishmongers, is situated close to the Lloyd's Tower between Gracechurch Street EC3 and Lime Street. Bank Underground and Docklands Light Railway (DLR) station is 300m west of Leadenhall Street along Cornhill EC3. Here visitors will be able to see Mansion House, the impressive official headquarters of the Lord Mayor of London. The Royal Exchange, home to designer jewellers Tiffany & Co. and De Beers, as well as the Artisan gallery, is located in this area, as is the Bank of England and Bank of England Museum.

St Botolph Street is 400m north of Tower Hill EC3 via the Minories. Tower Hill, which is close to the River Thames, is the location of the Tower of London, a must see for visitors to the City. Tower Bridge is also located next to Tower Hill, along Tower Bridge Approach EC3. This runs alongside St Katherine's Way E1, next to the popular St Katherine Docks, home to the Dickens Inn and the Lightship restaurant and bar, as well as many shops and an internet cafe.

St Botolph Street is close to a number of mainline and London Underground stations including Aldgate Station, 50m away on Aldgate High Street EC3.
