Throgmorton Avenue EC2 stretches from Throgmorton Street EC2 at its southern end to London Wall EC2 at this northern point. Throgmorton Avenue is located in close proximity to many major roads within the London EC2 area such as Lothbury EC2 and Moorgate EC2. Throgmorton Avenue, which is names after Nicholas Throckmorton, the ambassador of Queen Elizabeth I to France and Scotland, has junctions with Copthall Avenue EC2 and Drapers Gardens EC2.

Throgmorton Avenue is home to the impressive Drapers Hall building, headquarters of the Worshipful Company of Drapers, one of the livery companies, or trade associations, located within the City of London. This grand structure, which is often used as an awards or events venue, looks out on to the peaceful Drapers Gardens. Another interesting structure close to Throgmorton Avenue is Tower 42, formerly the NatWest Tower, located 300m east at 25 Old Broad Street EC2. Tower 42 is home to the renowned Rhodes 24 restaurant, which provides contemporary British cuisine under the guidance of popular chef Gary Rhodes. The Vertigo 42 bar and restaurant is also located in Tower 42, on the top floor of this 183m structure. Vertigo 42 provides unrivaled views of London landmarks such as St Paul's Cathedral, Swiss Re tower and the Lloyd's Building.

Throgmorton Avenue is is situated 100m north-east of the historic Bank of England building, which stands between Lothbury EC2, Princes Street EC2 and Threadneedle Street EC2. The Bank of England building, which dominates this area around Bank Station, is home to the Bank of England Museum, which can be entered from Bartholomew Lane EC2. The Bank of England Museum has a number of interactive exhibitions that provide an insight into the history of Britain's finances. Other highlights of the Bank of England Museum include its fully restored banking hall and the million pound note on display. Other places of interest close to Throgmorton Avenue include the Royal Exchange (100m south), Finsbury Circus (50m north), the Museum of London (700m west via London Wall) and the Guildhall (400m west).

Throgmorton Avenue benefits from excellent transport links, due to its central location within the financial district of the City of London. Moorgate Station, which provides rail and London Underground services, can be found 400m north-west of Throgmorton Avenue, close to bus services to destinations which include London Bridge (43) and Paddington (205) and Camden Town (214). Liverpool Street Station, which provides Circle, Central, Hammersmith & City and Metropolitan line tube services, as well as National Rail trains and the Stansted Express, is located 350m north-east of Throgmorton Avenue. Bank Station, which runs extensive London Underground services, is situated 250m south-west of Throgmorton Avenue. Travellers can use the Docklands Light Railway (DLR) service from Bank Station to reach destinations such as Greenwich, London City Airport and Stratford.
